What is Club Mono?
Club Mono is a monthly evening of new monologue theatre, produced by Enigmatic Hills Productions.
Each month, a new collection of original monologues is brought to life on stage. Every piece is created by a different team of independent artists—a writer, a director, and an actor. The writing comes from an open submission process, welcoming original monologues from writers anywhere in the world.
The Vision
The idea is simple. Independent theatre thrives on new work, yet opportunities to create and present it consistently are rare. Club Mono exists to change that.
More than a performance night, Club Mono is a working creative community. Writers hear their words spoken for the first time. Directors and actors collaborate on new contemporary material. Audiences experience original theatre.
How it Works
Club Mono is built on collaboration. From the moment a writer submits a script to the final performance, every monologue passes through a shared creative process involving three independent artists.
1. Submit your monologue
Writers submit original monologues through our online submission form. There is no limit to the number of pieces you can enter.
2. Scripts are selected
Every submission is read by our artistic committee, who select the monologues for the next Club Mono performance.
3. Creative teams are formed
Each selected monologue is matched with an independent director and an actor. Every piece is built by three artists—a writer, a director, and a performer—with each contributing their own craft.
4. The work is developed
Creative teams rehearse independently, shaping the work in their own way. During the final week before performance, everyone comes together for a shared development period, where the pieces are refined, rewrites are explored when needed, and the evening is brought together as a complete programme.
5. The performance
On one Sunday, the new works are presented across two performances.
Then it begins again. A new call for submissions. A new collection of monologues. A new group of artists. Every month, a completely new evening of theatre.
The Call for Writers
We're looking for original monologues for a single performer, running between ten and twenty minutes, with minimal props or set. There is no theme—write the story you want to tell.
If you've written it, we'll read it.
If your monologue is selected
You keep your copyright. Your work remains yours.
Your script is developed by an independent director and actor, with full credit to you as the writer.
You share in the ticket revenue.
Where possible, you're welcome to attend rehearsals and see your work come to life.
The Mono Bank
Every submission becomes part of the Mono Bank, our library of original monologues. If your script isn't selected this month, it remains under consideration for future Club Mono performances, festivals, tours, and remounts.
The Call for Actors
A monologue is one of theatre's purest forms. One performer, one story, and an audience with nothing to focus on but the person on stage.
Club Mono gives actors the opportunity to perform new writing every month. Each selected monologue is paired with an independent director and actor, developed through rehearsal, and presented twice in one day before a live audience. Actors are credited as part of the creative team and share in the ticket revenue.
Whether you're an established performer or building your career, Club Mono is a chance to collaborate with new writers, work with different directors, and keep performing.

The Call for Directors
Every month, Club Mono commissions directors to bring new writing to the stage.
Each selected monologue is entrusted to a director and actor, creating a three-way collaboration between writer, director, and performer. Each monologue is an opportunity to establish the first production of a new work. Writers may be invited into the rehearsal room, but the artistic vision of the production rests with the director.
Each monologue is presented twice before a live audience, with directors credited as part of the creative team and sharing in the ticket revenue.

How to Register
Club Mono welcomes writers, directors, and actors to register through our online form.
Writers can submit original monologues for consideration. Directors and actors can register their interest and upload their professional resumes for inclusion in our artist pool.
